As a man, when it comes to performing sexually, there is generally a lot of pressure placed upon your shoulders. In terms of performing sexually however, one of the worst feelings in the world is a lack of libido and sex drive. Sex feels awesome. It’s exciting, it’s fun, and it’s a great stress-reliever. If you find your libido hanging on by a thread however, the thought of sex may not be appealing, and it could affect your performance in bed. While there are a number of natural supplements out there that can help increase your sex drive, prevention is generally the best cure in this instance. To help you nip your low libido issues in the bud nice and early, here are 4 things killing your libido.

You’re a fan of cheese – Cheese is a food which, enjoyed in moderation, can be beneficial as it contains protein and calcium. Too much cheese however, is bad for you as it has a high fat content. What’s more, cheese could also be killing your sex drive. Why? Because cheese contains an enzyme which is known as aromatase. Aromatase converts testosterone in the body into Estrogen. Testosterone is the dominant male sexual hormone which is responsible for, amongst other things, sex drive and libido. The more test you have, the hornier you will be, and vice versa. If your libido is lacking, it may be time to step away from the cheese board.

You’re dehydrated – During the day, it’s vital that you drink enough water. Water hydrates the body, it is responsible for healthy organ functions, and it helps keep you fit and healthy. A lack of water can lead to dehydration. Dehydration will sap your energy levels, make you tired, and give you a headache. As you know, if you’re tired and suffering with a headache, you’ll generally not be in the mood for sex. Drinking tea or coffee is not beneficial either. They may be made with water, but the caffeine in them is a diuretic, which means you pee out more fluid than you have consumed, making you even more dehydrated.

Your diet sucks – Junk food is called junk food because that’s what it is. If you eat junk you feel like junk and your health will suffer in a variety of different ways. Junk food is heavily processed, it lacks nutrients, it is packed full of trans fats and chemical ingredients, and it is high in calories. This will lead to weight gain which can sap your libido, plus it can knock your hormones out of whack, including testosterone levels. Junk food will also slow down your circulation by clogging your arteries, so less oxygenated blood can reach your genitals. The less blood that reaches that part of your body, the less aroused you will feel.

You’re tired and stressed – Finally, if you are tired and/or stressed, you should do everything in your power to turn this around. A lack of sleep will leave you tired, and if you’re tired your energy levels will be low, which is not conducive when it comes to sexual performance and arousal. What’s more, if you are tired your cortisol levels will rise. Cortisol is also produced when we’re stressed. Cortisol is a stress hormone which negatively impacts the body in a number of ways. One way is that it suppresses the production of testosterone. The less testosterone you produce, the lower your libido will be. Try to relax more, do what you can to stop the stress from occurring, and get more sleep each night.
