Okay, today we’re going to be talking about sex. Yep, we thought that would grab your attention. The sex we’re talking about today however, involves food. You’re probably thinking that that’s fine, as there are a number of foods out there which are renowned for their aphrodisiac-like qualities, not to mention the fact that some can be used in the bedroom to really make things interesting. We aren’t going to be talking oysters, whipped cream, and strawberries today however. Today we’re looking at foods that hinder your sexual performance instead. If your libido isn’t where it was once when you were a hormonal adolescent, your diet could be a negative factor. Here are some of the worst foods for sexual performance and libido.

Fizzy drinks

When it comes to sexual performance, if you aren’t quite performing as well as you once did, it may be time for you to address your choice in beverages. Studies have shown that fizzy drinks are incredibly bad for us in a number of ways. Sugar-free drinks contain chemical sweeteners that kill libido and have been linked to a number of diseases but it is the full-sugar versions that are especially bad for your sex life. Most sugary drinks contain refined sugars and high fructose corn syrup to give them their sweetness. These sugars help raise LDL cholesterol and cause damage to the blood vessels. This in turn slows circulation, so not only will you be less aroused as there will be less blood reaching your genitals, but erectile dysfunction may also be an issue.

Processed food

Sometimes after a long day we just crave some decidedly unhealthy processed ‘beige’ food. At the time we may enjoy it, but shortly after we tend to feel awful. Processed food is packed full of unhealthy and unnatural ingredients, it provides very little in the way of nutrition, and it is just very bad for us. White bread for example, loses almost all of its natural vitamin and mineral content when it is processed from whole wheat into flour. In particular it loses a lot of zinc. Zinc is actually very important for a man’s sexual performance as it helps promote an increase in testosterone production. This is why many male sexual health supplements often contain zinc as one of the main minerals. If a food is processed, it’s generally garbage, so stay clear.

Shrimp

Certain seafoods such as oysters and mussels, are loaded full of minerals which boost sexual health. Shrimp however, is not one of them. Ever notice how cooked shrimp tend to maintain their pink colour for a long time? This is because they are treated with pesticides. These pesticides can disrupt our natural hormone levels, resulting in low levels of testosterone. The less testosterone in our bodies, the lower our libidos will be.

Alcohol

Okay, not a food but if you want to get laid the best advice we can give you is to stay clear of alcohol. Alcohol may give you confidence, but it will also affect your libido and your manhood. Alcohol suppresses the libido by slowing down blood circulation. Less blood flowing means less blood reaching erectile tissue in your genitals. This is why excessive alcohol consumption has been linked with erectile dysfunction. A quick drink to calm the nerves is one thing, but if you drink too much you’ll pay the price.
